Q: What is Millennium SoilTM?

A: Millennium SoilTM is our soil substitute. It's a safe, non-toxic, and an environmentally friendly material that starts out in crystal form. When the crystals are placed in water, each one of them absorbs water like a powerful sponge. We call this process "Hydration". During this process each crystal absorbs so much water that they "grow" to about the size of a quarter! At this point, the Millennium SoilTM looks like crystal clear chunks of white Jell-O.

Q: What are Planter Pouches?

A: Planter Pouches are Plastic "bag-like" structures into which the Millennium SoilTM and plants are placed. They come in different sizes to accommodate different sized plants. Since they're "air tight," they eliminate the evaporation of water from the Millennium SoilTM .

Q: How long does it last?

A: It lasts almost forever! Studies show that Millennium SoilTM will keep working for more than 25 years! As the plant roots take water out of the Millennium SoilTM the jell-O- like chunks will reduce in size. Then, when additional water is added, the Millennium SoilTM "Re-Hydrates," and the jell-O-like chunks grow once again".

Q: How do plants take water from the Millennium SoilTM?

A: Plant roots burrow into the chunks of Millennium SoilTM, and the roots then act like straws, and can take water as needed. Actually, the Plant "decides" when it needs water, so there's no watering too much...or too little! This is especially important, since most plants die because we "over-water" or "under-water" them.

Q: Can any plant grow in Millennium SoilTM?

A: Yes! Every plant on earth will grow in Millennium SoilTM , and transplanting is a snap! Simple shake off the loose soil, and insert the plant into the Planter Pouch. Then, cover the roots of the plant with Millennium SoilTM , and close the Pouch.

Q: How do I know when to add water to the Planter Pouches?

A: As you can imagine, watering requirements vary with each plant specie. Some plants consume more water than others. All PlantMakers products come with our Care & Design specification brochure which describes the watering requirement for each plant variety.

However, the "rule-of-thumb" is that you should check the Planter Pouches every 4-6 weeks, and the original volume of Millennium SoilTM should be maintained.
